Case 37 — Lume questions: why does my lume fade so quickly, and how should I compare it? · source wording exercise

Correction note for “Lume questions: why does my lume fade so quickly, and how should I compare it?”: retain the wording beginning “Afterglow fades fastest in the first minutes and then settles to…” in the record. If later material changes it, add the date, the changed wording and the source for that change; do not invent a completed correction here. Retain the source wording beside any paraphrase.

Record lug-to-lug and the effective span including rigid end links. Use a similar camera distance and neutral wrist position; photographs support fit discussion but do not replace measurements.

The difficulty is that phone cameras adjust white balance automatically, and blue dials are especially sensitive. Two photos of the same dial under different light can easily look like a 'batch difference'. Any comparison needs both dials in the same frame, under the same light, ideally next to a neutral grey or white reference card.

Case 53 — Timegrapher reading context: what do rate, amplitude and beat error actually tell me? · source wording exercise

Reader check for “Timegrapher reading context: what do rate, amplitude and beat error actually tell me?”: distinguish the discussion point “Without those fields, the rate, amplitude and beat-error values lack…” from its proposed application. The thread offers a way to reason about the question, without adding a personal experience or a newly observed outcome. Review focus: source wording. Retain the source wording beside any paraphrase.

Clarification for “Lug-to-lug and end-link overhang in wrist photographs”: the point beginning “Record lug-to-lug and the effective span…” belongs to the question as written. It should not be read as a report that a new check, purchase or experiment has been completed. Review focus: scope. Keep the stated question separate from any broader claim.

Case 46 — Date window centring: compare the same date at the same angle · source wording exercise

Different numerals have different optical centres. A comparison mixes two dates and unequal magnification. How can the evidence be improved?

Review focus: source wording. Retain the source wording beside any paraphrase. Use the original answer fragment “Keep the uncropped originals alongside the detail crops and distinguish…” as the discussion anchor; no new event or result is supplied.

Exercise RWF-22111/46: address this question within its stated limits.

Case 27 — QC photography: what photos actually help verify a pre-owned listing?

Ask for profile shots of both case sides and a lug-top shot at an angle. Polishing shows as rounded edges, softened bevels or lug holes that look shallower than they should. Compare against a known-good reference image of the same model, not memory. A side-by-side tells you far more than a description.

Case 47 — Maintenance question: how do I tell if an automatic actually needs service? · source wording exercise

Correction note for “Maintenance question: how do I tell if an automatic actually needs service?”: retain the wording beginning “Useful signs, in rough order of seriousness: power reserve noticeably shorter…” in the record. If later material changes it, add the date, the changed wording and the source for that change; do not invent a completed correction here. Retain the source wording beside any paraphrase.

Photograph the item and protective packing separately from the label. Remove names, addresses, barcodes and tracking tokens from public images while keeping originals privately.

Clarifying question first: do you have a baseline? If you've never recorded the watch's rate or power reserve, 'drifting' is hard to judge. Start a simple log now with daily offset against a reference time for a week, and the hours it runs from full wind. Once you have that, later changes mean something.

Case 8 — Lug-to-lug and end-link overhang in wrist photographs

A wide-angle wrist photo exaggerates the nearest edge of the case. How can two watches be compared fairly?

Case 35 — Bracelet fit: measuring the usable clasp adjustment

Limit of the answer in “Bracelet fit: measuring the usable clasp adjustment”: “Record wrist circumference, removable links and the clasp…” is an excerpt from the discussion, not an independent verification. A reader needs the relevant original material before treating an interpretation as established. Review focus: scope. Keep the stated question separate from any broader claim.

Case 30 — Date window centring: compare the same date at the same angle

Summary draft for “Date window centring: compare the same date at the same angle”: the answer addresses “Use the same numeral, camera axis…”; the related point is “Keep the uncropped originals alongside the detail crops and distinguish…”. Keep both connected to the opening question, and mark any conclusion needing further records as unresolved. Review focus: scope. Keep the stated question separate from any broader claim.
