Clarifying question: does anyone in the thread have access to both versions at once? Without simultaneous comparison, every claim either way is weak evidence. If not, the next best option is photos with a grey card in frame and white balance locked or set manually, which at least makes separate photos roughly comparable.

Summary draft for “Bracelet fit: measuring the usable clasp adjustment”: the answer addresses “Record wrist circumference, removable links and the clasp…”; the related point is “Request the closed bracelet circumference rather than inferring…”. Keep both connected to the opening question, and mark any conclusion needing further records as unresolved. Review focus: scope. Keep the stated question separate from any broader claim.

Domed crystals of any material add distortion at the edges, which some people like and others find hard to read at angles. Box-shaped or high-domed crystals also add thickness. If you're comparing two otherwise similar watches, check total thickness against crystal profile before assuming the case itself is thicker.

Method note for “QC checklist: prioritise observable faults over pixel hunting”: use “Start with function, legibility, assembly and…” as a row heading in a proposed working record. Put the statement, its supporting source or measurement, and any unresolved detail in separate fields. This proposes a format; it supplies no additional evidence. Keep the stated question separate from any broader claim.

Case 14 — What a water-resistance claim does and does not establish

Limit of the answer in “What a water-resistance claim does and does not establish”: “Ask a qualified watchmaker about a suitable test for that individual…” is an excerpt from the discussion, not an independent verification. A reader needs the relevant original material before treating an interpretation as established. Review focus: scope. Keep the stated question separate from any broader claim.

Case 18 — Bracelet fit: half-links, micro-adjust holes and the 'between sizes' problem

First, a clarifying question: how many links are on each side of the clasp right now? Fit often improves by moving one link from the 6 o'clock side to the 12 o'clock side, or the reverse. That doesn't change length, but it shifts where the clasp sits under the wrist, and a centred clasp feels less tight.

Case 16 — Lug-to-lug and end-link overhang in wrist photographs

A wide-angle wrist photo exaggerates the nearest edge of the case. How can two watches be compared fairly?

Case 6 — QC checklist: prioritise observable faults over pixel hunting

Clarification for “QC checklist: prioritise observable faults over pixel hunting”: the point beginning “Start with function, legibility, assembly and…” belongs to the question as written. It should not be read as a report that a new check, purchase or experiment has been completed. Review focus: scope. Keep the stated question separate from any broader claim.

Case 56 — Seller review template: facts, dates and unresolved questions · source wording exercise

Clarification for “Seller review template: facts, dates and unresolved questions”: the point beginning “Leave unsupported fields blank and separate observations from opinions; this…” belongs to the question as written. It should not be read as a report that a new check, purchase or experiment has been completed. Review focus: source wording. Retain the source wording beside any paraphrase.

Describe visible bridge shapes and markings separately from the proposed identification. Ask a qualified watchmaker to inspect it if identification matters for servicing; do not open the case merely for a forum answer.

Case 10 — Crystal types: sapphire, mineral and acrylic trade-offs for daily wear

Summary. Pick sapphire for scratch resistance in low-impact use, acrylic for impact tolerance and easy polishing, and mineral as a low-cost middle option. Prefer inner-surface AR if you're worried about wear. Look at crystal profile when comparing thickness. Choose by how you'll use the watch, not by the material label.

Case 19 — Accuracy expectations: is -8 s/d acceptable on an entry-level automatic?

My entry-level automatic loses about 8 seconds a day. The spec sheet lists a tolerance range, but I'm not sure how to read it or whether my measurement is reliable. Is this something to fix or something to live with?

Keep the date, work performed, provider invoice reference and test results where available. Redact addresses and payment information; do not invent service events to fill an empty history.

A correction worth making: 'sapphire = premium, mineral = cheap' oversimplifies it. A well-fitted mineral crystal on a modest watch can be perfectly suitable, and replacing a cracked sapphire is usually more expensive. Material is one factor among several, alongside fit, gasket quality and coating.
